I had the opportunity to visit Chicago recently and I can now say this is by far my favorite city in the US. The buildings, the people and the food are unbelievable. I was there for a week and I was so mesmerized by everything that I took a bunch of pictures. I am sorry it took me a while to write this post and get the pictures ready.
I don’t know about you, but when I visit a new city I always like to know in advance what places I should go to and what attractions are a “must see”, that way I don’t miss anything. As you read this post I will take you on a tour, through my camera lens of my top places in Chicago.
It was 40 degrees and sunny with mild winds that made the temperature absolutely perfect! You could see tulips everywhere around town which gave the city a splash of color. I stayed at the Fairmont Chicago Hotel and it was amazing! The room was spacious, modern and it had the perfect location… right in the middle of Columbus Drive, close to Millenium Park. The staff was so friendly and restaurant on the first floor was our go to place for an afternoon snack before getting ready for dinner.
Whether you are going to Chicago for a weekend or a week you should definitely see these top 5 attractions!
Strolling down Milleninum Park you can see architectural exhibitions, gardens, the Crown Fountains and The Bean (Cloud Gate) which is an amazing piece of architecture made of a stainless steel surface where you can see Chicago’s magnificent skyline. It was so much fun just going around town and ending up at Millenium Park. This park was very close to the hotel so I went there several times. I was able to just sit with my coffee in hand and this amazing view in front of me! One night I was even able to snap a quick picture before I was arrested… LOL! Just Kidding! I was just thrown out… (shh).
As all of you know I am a sports girl and a hardcore baseball fan! If I visit a city you can be sure I will try to visit their baseball stadium! This one is one of the oldest baseball stadiums and it was definitely such a fun game! After all they are the last World Series Champions! Cubs fans are so energetic, loyal and friendly. The area around the stadium is called Wrigleyville and here you can find a lot of sports bars and restaurants where you can either pregame before going in or celebrate after the game is over. I had a blast at that game against the Yankees. Lasting 18 innings, this game made history as the longest interleague baseball game in MLB history. The game was so long that Wrigley Field ran out of baseballs and more had to be brought in during the 15th inning. All of this happened at a temperature of 30 degrees Fahrenheit, but it was totally worth it!
3. Willis Tower (Sears Tower)- Skydeck Chicago
Here you will see the best views of Chicago very high up in the air and you will find the famous glass skydeck. To be honest it is kind of nerve racking looking down at first but then you feel like you are on top of the world. I was able to appreciate what I have, how lucky I was to be there at that moment and be happy of where I am in life! When you are here, get your camera ready and definitely look down at the view!

4. The Magnificent Mile– Michigan Avenue
Shopping! Shopping! Shopping! You can find almost any store here. Nordstrom, Express, Burberry, Chanel and the list goes on and on. While you shop, stop by a restaurant or a bar and relax while you catch your breath since it is a long, fun walk. You can find any kind of restaurant here and at the end go into the Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop for dessert. I would say this is my dreamed afternoon. LOL!
5. Navy Pier
Do you want to see Chicago’s skyline as if you were standing on top of Lake Michigan? Then this is the place to go (I took the first first picture at the top of the post there). Here you can find a ferris wheel, restaurants, exhibitions, bars and if you are lucky, a good artist in concert. I spent a day exploring this area and going crazy taking pictures. The trees, the water and the view are absolutely spectacular!
